Background information
Historic Building houses important collections by Sir William Holburne (1793-1874) which form the nucleus of superb fine and decorative 17th and 18th century art with work by leading British 20th century artist-craftspeople. Stunning collections comprise paintings by leading British and continental artists, silver, porcelain, sculpture, maiolica, glass, furniture, portrait miniatures: also calligraphy, woven and printed textiles and 20th century furniture, ceramics etc. Active programme of lectures and events to complement many temporary exhibitions on art and craft themes. A jewel in Bath's crown.
