HI, THIS IS FOR VIVIEN HAMILTON.

VIVIEN, THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELPING US WITH THE MILLET TO MATISSE EXHIBIT PREVIEW.

I HAVE WRITTEN THE FIRST TWO PIECES AND LIKE HOW THEY'VE TURNED OUT.

I DID HAVE A QUESTION THOUGH. WHAT IS LORD MCFARLANE'S FIRST NAME AND DO I HAVE THE SPELLING RIGHT ON MCFARLANE? I COULDN'T FIND HIS NAME ANYWHERE IN MY NOTES.

I AM NOT SURE THIS WILL GET TO YOU. I DON'T HAVE YOUR PROPER EMAIL ADDRESS BUT HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL HELP OUT.

JACKIE HAYS - 2002-07-15

Many years ago I traveled to England & Scottland on a bus trip. There was a museum that we stopped at, which I believe to be the Burrell Collection, Glasgow. I saw this painting by mattijs Maris and fell in love with it. At the time I only bought a postcard of it, which I can not find now. The painting was of a small girl laying on the ground with butterflies fling around her.

Is there any one that can point me in the right direction of how to go about buying a print of it?

I have searched the print shops in the USA and the internet only to come up with nothing.

Since my trip many years ago I have since become very much interested in this (an more) of his work.

Any help would be appriecated.

As in many websites, we have been unable to access the email addresses of specific staff members. We will be studying costume and textiles in Luton, Norwich, and Edinburgh. Mr. David Forsyth of the National Museums of Scotland has suggested that we contact Ms Helen Hughes, Textile conservator at the Burrell. We will be leaving Canada on April 2nd, and expect to be in Glasgow all day Thursday, April 12th. On a previous trip to Glasgow, we were able to gain access to dozens of garments housed south of the Clyde. We rather hoped that we would be able to be so fortunate again. Kindly forward this message expeditiously to Ms. Hughes. Thank you.

Once we have Ms Hughes' email address we can forward our creden-tials and letters of introduction, and our specific areas of study on behalf of the Manitoba Museum and the Hudson's Bay Collection.

We realize belatedly that counting on the electronic communica-tions system to make arrangements has not worked particularly well, and that we should have made arrangements months ago by regular post. Strange as it may seem, our emails to hotels and B&Bs have crossed the Atlantic expeditiously, whereas our emails to the majority of public institutions have either not arrived, or have arrived in a format that has been unintelligible. In any event, whoever opens this email tomorrow would do us an enormous courtesy by placing it in the proper hands. We literally have to receive a response by March 30th to complete our final arrangements. Again, in anticipation of your assistance on behalf of two ex-patriate Scots, Judy McPherson, nee Crockatt, whose family hail from Dundee, and Barry McPherson, whose family hailed from Blackwood.
