Background information
The Gallery was purpose built in 1884 and refurbished in 2001. It houses a variety of Fine Art collections, Social History and Geology displays.

The permanent collection consists of 18th, 19th and early 20th century painting, Pop Art, American Photorealism and contemporary art.

In 2006 a brand new Pop Art Gallery is due to open to display this internationally acclaimed collection.
