Background information
The Whitechapel is an independent gallery registered as a charitable trust showing a great variety of work, including video and installation as well as painting and sculpture. The Gallery exhibits art from both Britain and abroad, work by up-and-coming artists, widely-recognised contemporary figures and artists from earlier in the century whose work remains relevant. It aims to show work that is of lasting importance, that advances both artistic debate and our understanding of the world.

Admission: 11.00-5.00 Tuesday to Sunday with late evening opening to 8.00 on Wednesdays. Free entrance to most exhibitions
